8/9/2012   President Wang visited Cal State L.A and had a meeting with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Ashish Vaidya (Dr. Vaidya is also the Acting President of Cal State L.A. for the week) and Dean Jose L. Galvan of the College of Extended Studies and International Programs, Dean James Goodrich of the College of Business & Economics, Dean Beatrice Yorker of the College of Health & Human Services, and Dean Mary Falvey of the Charter College of Education. Associate Dean of Business & Economics Edward Hsieh and Dr. Stephen Ma, Professor of Political Science, and Haixin Zhang, Assistant General Manager of Sun Yat-sen University Press of China also attended the meeting.

      Dr. Hong Chiu Chen, Director and Secretary of the Foundation, facilitated for the second time a Seminar on the Development of Options Industry in Shanghai on November 1, 2011, following a very successful seminar last year. The Seminar this year was hosted by Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, US Options Industry Council (OIC), and Shanghai Municipal Government Financial Services Office. Currently, China does not have equity options market yet. Being a non-profit organization, OIC strives to provide education to retail investors in advance of the introduction of equity options in China.

      The Marco Polo Award Ceremony for Mr. Michael Mussallem, Chairman and CEO of Edwards Lifesciences was held in Beijing, China on July 28, 2011. Mr. Liu Yanguo, Deputy Administrator of SAFEA, met with Mr. Mussallem and presented the award to him in the ceremony.

      Sponsored by the Foundation, Dr. Kuei-wu Tsai, Dean of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology at California State University, Los Angeles was invited to visit China in May, 2005 for lectures and meetings. Among the organizations Dean Tsai visited are Wuhan University of Technology, Hubei Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Nanning High Technology Industrial Development Zone, Nanning High & New-tech Enterprises Incubator, Guangxi Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, Guangxi University of Technology, Liuzhou Yanghe New Industrial District, Guangxi Liuzhou Association for International Exchange of Personnel, Guilin University of Technology, Shanghai Education Center for Administrators. Dr. Tsai's Lecture was warmly welcomed by Chinese counterparts and participants.
