SAFEA VIP delegation, led Mr. Ming Lu, Deputy Director General of State Administration of Foreign Experrts Affairs, PRC (SAFEA), visited the foundation and Silicon Valley from 5/8 to 5/10. Arranged by the foundation the delegation visited Stanford University, UC Berkeley, HP and GOOGLE. The members of the delegation includes Ms. Yunru Wu, Director of Department of Economic and Technical Experts, Mr. Li Zou, Division Chief of SAFEATrainingCenter, Mr. Shenping Liang, Deputy Chief, Department of Economic and Technical Experts.

  8/20/2011   Dr. Chengben Wang held a welcome party for the trainees from China Ministry of Science and Technology in San Francisco. Mr. Xianrong Yi, Deputy General Consul and other officers of the China Consulate in San Francisco were invited and expressed sincere thanks to Dr. Wang's long time and generous support. Dr. Wang has sponsored more than 100 young Chinese government officers for the last 20 years. This years trainees are Ms. Zhang Wanning, Ms. Su Yue , Chen Weiwei and Wang Shuhua.
       
  8/17/2011   Dr. Hong Chiu Chen, Board Member and Secretary of the Foundation, accompanied Professor Hong Ming Chen, MD. of Taiwan, to Chengdu, China and made presentations in two reputable hospitals. Professor Chen is Chairman of the Maternal and Child Health Center of Taiwan and one of the top experts in cervical cancer pap. screening in Taiwan. He shared his expertise of more than 30 years with the medical professionals in Chengdu. Preventive medicine, which is commonly practiced in Taiwan, is not yet well recognized on the Mainland. The purpose of the visit was to bring the Taiwan experience on the preventive cervical cancer pap. screening to the Mainland to reduce the mortality rate due to cervical cancer.Professor Chen also shared his patented sampling tool, which can reduce the false negatives in the cervical cancer pap. screening.

The annual meeting of the U.S.-China Foundation for International Exchanges was held on July 9, 2005 at San Francisco.   Mr. Zhang Jianguo, Chairman of the Boardl presided at the meeting.

Proposed by Chairman of the board, the following 4 persons were elected as the new board member of the foundation:

1. R. Barry McComic. Mr. Barry McComic is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of McComic Consolidated, Inc. and Trans West Housing, Inc. In addition, he is an attorney and a member of the bar in

   
      New York, California and Tennessee. Mr. McComic has

      includes his involvement in non-profit organizations. He is the PresidentEmeritus & Member of the Board of University of California at San Diego Foundation and Board member of numerous non-profit organizations such as San Diego Dialogue. He actively supports the professional exchanges between US and China and is the main sponsor of UCSD-CAIEP exchange program.
             
     

2. Jinfa Wan. Mr. Jinfa Wan graduated and received his Bachelor’s degree in 1995 from Beijing Aeronautic University and received his Master’s degree in 2004 from Harbin Engineering University. Mr. Wan worked as Division Chief in 1982 in China Aeronautical Co., Deputy Director in 1997 in SAFEA and China International Talent Exchange Foundation. Mr. Wan has the title of Senior Accountant with extensive experience in finance and project management of international exchanges.

3. Qiming Peng. Mr. Qiming Peng graduated from Middle and South China Finance University. He worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAFAE and China International Talent Exchange

4. Haoqing Xu. Mr. Haoqing Xu graduated and received his Bachelor’s degree of Law in 1991 and Master’s degree in 1998 from China People’s University. From 1991 he has been working in SAFEA, CAIEP as project manager, deputy chief, Assistant to the Director and Deputy Director of CAIEP office. Mr. Xu gained wide experience in project management of international exchanges.
